The Executive Director, Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute, ARMTI, Dr. Olufemi Oladunni, has revealed that one of the many challenges restricting agriculture from boosting the nation’s economy is poor agricultural financing.
He stated that agriculture is all it takes for steady economic growth, through the provision of raw materials, food, jobs, and increased financial stability.
According to the E.D, ARMTI has commissioned a study exploring the factors affecting operational mechanisms of financial institutions, to delivering financial service to farmers in Nigeria.
He stated that the overall objective of the study was to note ways in which communication amongst agricultural finance stakeholders can be enhanced so as to develop an institutionalised mechanism for the sector.
“The result of this study will help facilitate efforts by policy-makers to institutionalise collaboration among stakeholders involved in agricultural financing.
“Finally, farmers at all levels and agripreneurs, who are the original beneficiaries, will reap the fruit of the institutionalised and coordinated mechanism.” He said
