Project Manager, Improving the Fuel Wood Balance (FuWoBa), a project initiated by Oxfam and EU Dr. Christ Udokang has said that the tree planting scheme Katsina State will be completed by January.
Dr. Udokang, who said this during the teams visit to Daura, Katsina disclosed that about 5.6 million trees had been planted in the State to promote environmental sustainability, enhance income generation, fight desertification and conserve the environment to promote sustainable socio-economic development.
The project manager added that the visit was to enlighten the councils which are Daura, Mashi, Dutsi, Sandamu, Zango, Maiadua and Mani local government areas, to take responsibility of the project, stressing that the trees must be maintained.
He charged all participating councils to enact by-laws that would guide them and punish anyone who goes against the law.
On his part, the Vice-Chairman of Daura Local Government Council, Malam Usman Suduje, pledged that the council would continue to support the project and expand its scope to accommodate more farmers.
