The Open Forum Agricultural Biotechnology (OFAB), says that agribusiness can only thrive in Nigeria if the country fully imbibes the use of biotechnology.

The Country Director, OFAB-Nigeria Dr. Rose Gidado who made this known at the annual seed fair held recently in Abuja said technology was crucial to boosting the Nigeria agricultural sector.

Gidado further explained that Nigeria can take a cue from developed countries that use biotechnology to boost their agricultural productivity.

According to her, “We can’t take agriculture into business without the use of the tools of science and technology. We are talking about biotechnology application”.

“It’s being safely used in other parts of the world in all the developed economies that we have today, be it US, Brazil, Japan, India China and in Africa South Africa and Sudan, this technology has been for the past 20 – 22 years without any health risk.” She added

The Country Director urged farmers to purchase quality seed that will result in a great harvest for profit maximization and economy development.
