NASC reiterates commitment to quality seeds

In a bid to live up to its promise of ensuring quality seeds and food security in Nigeria, the National Agricultural Seed Council says it is taking seed business in the country serious.

Director-General of NASC, Dr. Philip Ojo revealed this during the agency’s annual Seed Fair held recently in Abuja.

Dr. Ojo said the agency was expanding its partners both locally and international.

In his words “We have expanded our collaboration base and are now have meaningful partnerships with the Indian and Israeli embassies, NSCDC, BPSR, FRSC, DFID PERL, NIRSAL and AGRA to mention a few.” He said.

The DG further noted that a Cassava Seed Tracker application designed to transform analogue certification system to a digital system had been developed by the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA).
