To reinstate peace and tranquillity in Taraba State, the Governor, Darius Ishaku has urged herders and farmers in the State to live in harmony with one another.

The governor who made the call at Jalingo during the official distribution of cassava stems to farmers, encouraged farmers and the youths to go into agro-business in order to banish poverty from the State.

Ishaku noted that the State had acquired over five million stems of the developed cassava for distribution to farmers towards the improvement of cassava farming adding that such feat could only happen when there was peace.

On his part, the Deputy Governor of the State, Haruna Manu, who commended the State government for his renewed vision in agriculture, emphasised that agriculture was capable of revitalising the economy of the State.

“As the country is geared towards finding an alternative to oil to save the nation’s dwindling economy, the State is committed to reviving the agricultural sector with a view to improving the socio-economic development of the State.” He said.

Manu also affirmed that the State government had entrenched three cassava processing plants in the three senatorial districts of the state.

He said the establishment of the plants was to create a market for finished products with a suitable environment for healthy competitions amongst producers in the State.
