The President, National Association of Yam Farmers, Processors and Marketers, Professor Simon Irtwange, has revealed that the Benue State Yam Processing Plant will help convert yam produce into many products.
According to him, the plant will serve as an edge to yam farmers and help in the processing of yam into yam flour for local consumption and export.
Irtwange said “The Benue Yam Processing plant is owned by the Benue State Government and has capacity to produce 60 metric tones per day.
“There are different ways yams can be used apart from as food crops where it is boiled, fried or pounded . ’’ He added
The President said that the association would work hard to improve the economic prospects of its members and conduct more research to make the project less expensive.
