The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has disclosed that about 400,000 farmers have become beneficiaries of the Anchor Borrowers Programme in the country.

CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele, who made this known at the inauguration of input distribution for the 2018 moist season farming in Cross River State, reiterated the institution’s commitment to restore the glamour of Nigerian agriculture.

Emefiele however urged farmers to engage in the modern input distribution technique in order to benefit from the low interest rate of 9 per cent offered.

Meanwhile, the governor also reaffirmed the apex bank’s commitment to assist about 12,000 farmers registered with the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) in Cross River State, with a view to reposition Nigerian agriculture as an innovative enterprise for employment opportunity, wealth creation and food security.
