The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) says Jigawa state may experience a bumper yield this year following a potential good deal of rain as seen in its Seasonal Rainfall Prediction (SRP) for 2018.
Jigawa State Manager of NiMet, Malam Muhammad Abdullahi, made this known in Dutse, the state’s capital in an interview with newsmen.
According to him, “Rains started falling from May 2, May 19 and May 11; which means the rains started before our prediction date.”
“By our predictions, the rainy season will end in Dutse by Oct. 22; there would be 149 days of rainfall while 758 millilitres of rainfall are expected to be recorded.’’ He added
Abdullahi further urged farmers to plant good seedlings so as to get good yields.
