The Announcement Ceremony of the 2018 World Food Prize Laureate is billed to take place on June 25th at the United States Department of Agriculture, Washington, D.C.
President of the African Development Bank and Nigeria’s former Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, was awarded as the 2017 World Food Prize Laureate in Des Moines, Iowa, United States.
This was in recognition of his breakthrough achievements as Minister of Agriculture for Nigeria, as well as his critical role in driving change in African agriculture and improving food security for millions across the continent.
Adesina, while receiving the award expressed his unwavering commitment towards feeding Africa and empowering farmers across the continent.
The World Food prize is a $250,000 annual award given to an individual for exceptional contribution to human development through improved quality, quantity or availability of food in the world.
