Ogbeh vows to equip farmers with mechanized tools

Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, has pledged to support farmers with mechanized farming tools, as a measure in simplifying farming activities in the country.

Ogbeh said this while commissioning soil erosion control sites in Kumo, Akko Local Government Area and Kaltungo in Kaltungo LGA in Gombe State.

He hinted on the provision of modern mechanized farming equipment to aid farmers’ activities, adding that the initiative was designed to draw youths to the agricultural sector.

The commissioned project would be executed by the Ecological Fund Office, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).

The minister lauded the development, saying it would help reduce erosion and flood related issues ravaging the communities.

In his words: “Today’s project commissioning and handing over must be commended, as it will offer the communities opportunities to take ownership of the projects in ensuring its security, maintenance and sustainability.

“The communities should also prevent the mismanagement of the projects by ensuring that drainage channels are free of debris that can lead to another flooding or erosion.”
