Jigawa celebrates milestone in agric sector

Jigawa State Governor, Muhammad Badaru has attributed the massive success recorded in the state’s agriculture sector to the Agriculture Master Plan Initiative.

Gov. Badaru made this known on Tuesday, May 29, at the commemoration of Nigeria’s Democracy Day in Dutse, the state capital.

He said the effort has won significant investments in key areas like sugar, rice, livestock and poultry, adding that the mega plan has also provided over 30,000 job opportunities for the teeming populace in the state.

“We have also introduced cluster-farming and value-chain mapping, to unlock job opportunities across the cultivation cycle.

“We used small implement mechanization that culminated into better cultivation, which improves competitiveness and guarantees market for our local crops,” the governor explained.

Badaru further reaffirmed his commitment to grow the agricultural sector, noting that the state will not rest on its oars in supporting the production of local food for consumption and trading purposes.
