African countries are gradually making significant impacts in agriculture with a new report by Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI) describing Ivory Coast as the leading light of West Africa’s bread basket.
According to the report, Abidjan has been consistent and dedicated with agriculture and the food industry for some years now, both in production and processing – which has caught the attention of international community.
The ever-growing boost in the nation’s economy has been attributed to the vibrancy of the food and agriculture sector, particularly in the nation’s capital, Abidjan.
Ivory Coast’s breadfruit product feeds a good number of several Francophone countries, including Burkina Faso, Mali, Guinea, Niger, Togo and Benin.
The GTAI also noted that the presence of an increasing demand for food in the region and a developing market for suppliers of agrofood and plastics, printing and packaging technology, offers a glimmer of hope for Ivory Coast to advance her economy.
