Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba on Tuesday, May 29, marked the 2018 Democracy Day with the inauguration of 30 tractors for distribution to farmers in the state.
Ishaku said the initiative was prompted as a need to enhance agribusiness in the state, while assisting farmers with the right farming tools – to facilitate their farming endeavours.
According to the governor, agriculture is instrumental to the diversification of the nation’s economy.
He emphasized the urgent need for state governors to give the sector adequate attention to ensure food security in the country, which he described as the symbol of successful nations.
While marking the niceties of Democracy Day, the governor seized the moment to dish out some of his achievements in various sectors of the state’s economy, especially in the areas of water supply, health and physical infrastructure, among others.
Ishaku urged the people to support his re-election in 2019 to enable him consolidate on his achievements in the past three years for a better Taraba.
