As states set plans in motion ahead of the 2018 farming season, the Zamfara State Government says it has procured a total of 30, 000 metric tonnes of fertilizer to support farmers for the wet farming season.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Lawal Jangebe on Wednesday, May 23, at an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in the state capital, Gusau.

Jangebe noted that the first sale and distribution of the fertilisers would be done by the state Gov. Abdul’aziz Yari on Saturday in Nasarawa-Burkullu village, Bukkuyum Local Government Area.

He said, developing the state’s agriculture is top priority to this administration and it had delivered on its promises since it stepped into office by assisting farmers with agricultural inputs at reduced price.

In his words: “In 2017, we procured more than 20,000 metric tonnes of fertiliser under the same commitment, which has yielded an increase in food production across the state.

Jangebe further restated the state government’s desire and ready cooperation to work with the FG to ensure food security and stability in the country.
