A Non-Governmental Organisation in Nigeria, R.H Equipt has trained 150 youths in Katsina in modern farming techniques and entrepreneurship on Thursday, May 3.
Speaking to newsmen, the Coordinator of the organisation, Mr Rabiu Halilu said the 150 trainees were selected through an online process having filled their application forms online, following an advertisement.
Halilu added, “Our organisation got the support of the U.S. Embassy in Abuja to provide the training for the selected youths who have indicated interest in acquiring the modern agricultural techniques.”
He further stated that the 50 youths comprised both male and female, from each of the three senatorial zones in Katsina State.
“We have so far trained 50 persons each in Daura and Funtua zones; we are about to complete the training of the Katsina zone participants.
“We are going to link them up with the financial institutions that will provide financial support for them to start their own businesses,” Halilu said.
Additionally, the coordinator noted that the participants were also trained on business proposal writing, which would enable them seek financial assistance from financial institutions.
Halilu added that the organisation would further introduce the trainees to different organisations that can patronize their products, which will in turn make them self-reliant.
He said, “We have trained the youths in modern vegetable farming, poultry and cattle fattening as well as goat rearing and goat milk production techniques.
“We have also educated them on modern fish farming, cucumber, carrot, lettuce and cabbage farming.”
